Our patent, “Resolving Blockchain Domains,” (U.S. No. 11,558,344), or ‘344 covers a breakthrough method for linking human-readable names with blockchain addresses through smart contracts.
This tech powers our TLDs like .crypto, .x, .wallet, .brave, .pudgy, and more, setting the foundation for modern onchain naming.
When ENS Labs challenged this patent last year, the USPTO reviewed every claim and ultimately confirmed the patent’s validity.
That decision not only affirmed our innovation, but also underscored that blockchain naming systems can be protected under U.S. patent law.
Since then, we’ve stayed true to our principles:
