In the late 1960s, Jäger coined the term "generative photography".
Using custom pinhole cameras, he created photographs revealing how light is captured within the camera itself.
Nearly 60 years on, Bloom worked with Jäger to create Contingent, made from a digitized dataset of the original pinhole photographs.

Brightness and color in the image are reorganized as inputs into a geometric mesh. The program reshapes the mesh based on the specific color values at each point.
